Porcelain Veneers Gold Coast

Many celebrities and models achieve their white, bright and perfect smiles with porcelain veneers

They can be the ideal solution to a number of aesthetic imperfections. If you feel your teeth are too small, broken, crooked, gapped, discoloured or simply not as beautiful as they could be, handcrafted bespoke veneers can transform your smile into a whiter, brighter masterpiece – your perfect smile.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are aesthetic, ultra-thin custom-made porcelain laminates that are permanently bonded to your teeth. Porcelain is a biocompatible material and highly resistant to staining and chipping. Fixed over the top of your natural tooth structure, they can flawlessly cover a broad range of dental concerns and imperfections including:

  • Uneven tooth shapes and sizes
  • Broken, chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Stubborn discolouration
  • Minor crookedness and malalignment

The highest quality materials, bonding protocols and expert application is our standard to ensure that your porcelain veneer transformation will last. Custom made specifically for you, we take into account your age, gender, facial versus dental midline and long axis, complexion, as well as various teeth-specific, gum-specific and occlusal factors. This ensures that your handcrafted, bespoke veneers truly enhance your unique smile whilst being stable, balanced and in harmony with your facial form.

Pearly white porcelain veneers have won the hearts of many a mate, secured many a job opportunity and made many friends. They’ve snapped countless selfies, starred in trillions of movies and sparkled at every Hollywood event. They’re on the cover of magazines, they’re social media influencers, they present the news, play elite sport and strut their stuff on the catwalk. Porcelain veneers are everywhere, especially around the Gold Coast; but what do you really know about them?

Once considered the cosmetic luxury of the rich and famous, porcelain veneers are now much more accessible for everyday people, and for a variety of applications. It’s easier than ever to achieve the dream smile you’ve always wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Porcelain Veneers last?

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last up to 15 years or longer. Caring for your new smile is quite simple – treat them like your natural teeth. Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste, floss daily and see your dentist every 6 months to prevent any problems before they arise. If you clench or grind your teeth, we may suggest that you wear an occlusal splint while sleeping to protect your veneers and teeth.

What happens during the Porcelain Veneers procedure?

First Appointment

Dr Hua begins the porcelain veneer treatment with an impression of your teeth and you are given a ‘trial’ smile that is custom-made by our ceramist. During this process, your teeth are minimally shaped, and these temporary veneers are fitted and worn for 1-2 weeks. This unique step allows you to trial your new and improved smile.

Second Appointment

After trialling your new smile, you will return for a follow-up appointment to provide feedback on the look and fit of your veneers. Using this feedback, our ceramist makes a new mould before creating the final veneers.

Third Appointment

The completed final veneers will be permanently fitted during this appointment. Dr Hua removes the temporary veneers (‘trial smile’), and you will receive your new, permanent smile.

Fourth Appointment

One week after the placement of your final veneers (third appointment), you will return for a review appointment. During this appointment, Dr Hua applies the finishing touches to your new smile.

If treated properly, veneers should look and feel great for up to 15 years after their placement. About a month after your veneers are completed, your facial muscles adapt to your new smile. This is when your veneers will look and feel more natural than the day they were put in.

Can I get just one Veneer or will I need a whole set of Veneers?

You may opt to receive one veneer, a series of veneers, or an entire smile makeover and this will be guided by your unique needs, goals, and budget. During the consultation, Dr Hua can evaluate your smile to develop a personalised plan for your veneer treatment. Patients who choose to have one veneer placed, typically have a single deeply discoloured or damaged tooth that requires concealment. In these instances, Dr Hua is able to colour-match the new veneer to the surrounding teeth for natural-looking results. For some patients, the best possible outcome may require that the surrounding teeth also receive veneers to create the most consistent and visually appealing results. Just as every patient is unique, each veneer treatment is unique.

Do Porcelain Veneers look like Natural Teeth?

A hallmark feature of Dr Hua’s porcelain veneer work is that it looks incredibly natural. Each porcelain veneer is custom-designed and handcrafted to create the appearance of a beautifully enhanced tooth. The shape, size, colour, and lustre of every veneer is meticulously planned to blend in with the surrounding teeth to create an award-winning smile. Additionally, Dr Hua ensures that every veneer fits and bonds to the prepared tooth precisely so that the borders of the restoration are imperceptible.

Do Porcelain Veneers hurt?

The porcelain veneers procedure is not considered painful. You may experience some sensitivity when the tooth is being prepared, but the process is normally performed with local anaesthetic to give patients the most relaxing and comfortable experience possible.

How much do Porcelain Veneers cost?

Porcelain veneers from Dr Hua typically cost $1,250 per tooth. Every procedure performed by Dr Hua is customised to meet the unique needs of the patient, due to this, the price may vary from case to case. During the consultation process, Dr Hua will perform an oral examination, discuss your cosmetic and functional goals, design a tailored treatment plan, and provide you with a precise quote for the procedure. Good candidates for porcelain veneers have healthy teeth and gums, and if necessary, he will make recommendations to improve your oral health before the procedure can begin.

Although you may be able to find a cosmetic dentist who will perform the porcelain veneers procedure at a reduced cost, it is important that you research your practitioner and procedure beforehand to avoid disappointment in your final smile. Choosing a less experienced dentist can lead to poor results, or even costly complications in the future. Dr Hua’s patients consider porcelain veneers an investment in their oral health and aesthetics. With his artistic eye and meticulous attention to detail, Dr Hua has worked with many models, professional athletes, Doctors, and Dentists over the years who have trusted him with their smiles.

Are there any alternatives to Porcelain Veneers?

If you are not a good candidate for treatment with porcelain veneers due to severe damage, decay, or otherwise problematic teeth, we may recommend custom crowns to improve the health, strength, and appearance of each affected tooth. Instead of covering just the visible front surface of the tooth (like a veneer), a dental crown fits over the vulnerable body of the treated tooth like a cap to restore proper form and function while creating a more ideal appearance that blends with the surrounding teeth.

For individuals who do not want veneers but are interested in making minor and purely cosmetic improvements, cosmetic bonding may provide a suitable solution. Tooth-coloured composite resin is incredibly versatile; however, this method does not yield results that are as long-lasting or shade-stable as porcelain veneers.

The ideal treatment option for you will depend on a variety of factors that you can discuss with Dr Hua during your consultation. Dr Hua takes the time to understand your dental needs and will explain all the treatment options available to you to help achieve your dream smile.

What is the difference between a Veneer and a Crown?

A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain or other material, that is bonded to the front of your existing tooth. They are more conservative than crowns because the preparation leaves more of your original tooth intact. If your tooth is intact and the reason for restoration is for cosmetic purposes, a veneer may be the best option.

A crown is like a veneer but covers the entire tooth. It can be all porcelain, porcelain fused to a metal alloy (PFM), or an all-metal alloy. If you have tooth decay, this decayed part will be removed and built-up (if necessary) to support the tooth before making the crown. If your tooth has a large filling, a root canal, or is very worn or cracked; a crown is likely the best option.

Whether a veneer or a crown is right for you will depend on the condition of your teeth and what you are trying to fix. Both crowns and veneers are colour matched to your teeth, except for all-metal crowns.
