How do we find your best smile proportions?
Dr Hua believes that to determine your best smile proportions, it is important to assess every patient based on their current facial and teeth proportions, function, phonetics, and balance of the smile in relation to the whole face. During your comprehensive consultation with Dr Hua, he will assess the following:
Lip Lines
Your lip line may sit high, medium, or low, which creates a smile that can expose more of the gum tissue or not enough of the teeth in a smile.
Midline
To ensure symmetry and balance is achieved, Dr Hua will identify the ‘midline’ of your smile. This is the point where the two central incisor teeth encounter each other and will be assessed in relation to the middle of your face.
Differing Lengths
When the central teeth are shorter than the lateral teeth, it can create an unfavourable aesthetic to your smile, and can be cosmetically corrected. Assessing the relative lengths of your teeth to each other ensures that the length of each tooth creates a smile that is naturally beautiful for you.
Bite and Phonetics
Your bite needs to be considered when determining the ideal position for individual teeth, as this can affect your function and speech. The incisal edge position is responsible for making the “f”, “v”, “s”, and “t” sounds, as well as how the teeth will support your upper lip. This is a crucial step in ensuring that the correct alignment of your teeth is achieved.
Shade
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments and can give an instant youthful enhancement to someone’s appearance. Dr Hua will customise the optimal amount of ‘whiteness’ to achieve a natural, clean and youthful appearance to your smile.
Alignment
Crooked, misaligned, or crowded teeth are common reasons for people to undergo smile makeovers. Often it requires braces, Invisalign or other teeth alignment measures to have them sitting straight for the ‘perfect’ smile. If the teeth erupt and grow in a way that become overlapped, twisted, angled, or rotated, they can become disproportionate which can impact your smile and even cause dental health problems.
All these factors are assessed and used to determine the best smile proportions for your smile and facial features by Dr Hua and his expert team at Burleigh Dental Studio.
