Teeth Whitening 101

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening refers to the cosmetic dental procedure of bleaching your teeth in order to make them whiter and brighter. Teeth Whitening is a popular procedure that can help to remove stains and discoloration to drastically improve your smile.

Should I have my teeth professionally whitened?

There are many over-the-counter teeth whitening kits that are easily available, however these won’t achieve safe, effective and long-lasting results. For the best results, we recommend treatment by a trusted and qualified dental professional.

There are risks involved when trying to perform DIY Teeth Whitening, and you may end up doing more damage than good to your teeth and gums. Trusting a professional will ensure that you achieve safe and reliable results that will last.

Our Teeth Whitening Technology

We use PolaOffice+ professional in-chair whitening to provide powerful teeth whitening that will eliminate stains and discoloration without damaging your teeth.

You can relax and listen to your favourite music with Spotify or watch the latest movies on Netflix while we complete 4 eight-minute sessions to restore your dazzling smile.

Our in-chair whitening methods will typically lighten your smile up to 8 shades within an hour! Our customised take-home kits are an alternative for those who want to do professional DIY Teeth Whitening with tailor-made bleaching trays and either PolaDay or PolaNight whitening syringes.

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Last?

Most results can typically last for up to two years. However this depends on your diet and lifestyle. Your results will last longer if you don’t regularly drink soft drinks, sports drinks, tea and coffee or eat foods that repeatedly stain your teeth. Our take-home whitening kits are perfect for touch-ups and to help maintain your white smile for life

Teeth Whitening Tips

There are a few other ways in which you can prevent discolouration. Firstly, having a good dental routine can help to prevent discolouration. This means brushing and flossing thoroughly and twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

You may also want to invest in an electric toothbrush which has been proven to consistently remove more plaque than that of a manual toothbrush.

There are also products such as whitening toothpastes and strips which are commonly available, however they are not the most effective and not usually recommended as effective methods to whiten your smile.

The discolouration of your teeth and how long the whitening results can last will also depend on the foods and drinks that you consume.

It is not ideal to eat foods and consume drinks that are known to stain your teeth such as red wine, beetroot, curry and vinegar. Interestingly there are certain foods that can help to improve your dental health such as apples, cheese, strawberries and onions.
