Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry Gold Coast

Advanced Laser Dentistry enables gum lift procedures, frenectomies and tongue ties to be performed effectively and with minimal discomfort.

Soft tissue concerns are very common and can be rectified with amazing results.

Gummy Smile Treatment

Cosmetic gum lifts (gingivectomies) are an effective procedure we use to remove and reshape excess gum tissue to reveal more of your teeth. This treatment can improve the appearance of your teeth and gums by creating a more proportionate smile. While the procedure is often undertaken for aesthetic reasons, gum recontouring can also be performed for functional purposes, such as treating excessive soft tissue caused by periodontal disease.

Gum recontouring at Burleigh Dental Studio is achieved using a state-of-the-art dental laser to carefully remove or reshape the gum tissue to create a more balanced and symmetrical gumline. Our soft tissue laser crown-lengthening procedure is virtually painless, efficient and provides long-lasting results. After the procedure, patients may experience some swelling and discomfort, which typically resolves within a few days and can be managed with oral analgesic medication if required. It is essential to maintain good oral hygiene after gum recontouring to prevent infection and promote healing.

Laser Frenectomy

Laser frenectomy is a procedure used to treat the upper or lower lip frenum (a small fold of tissue that connects the gums to the lip) that is abnormally short, tight, or attached too high causing a restriction of normal lip movement. This treatment aims to prevent difficulties with speech, oral hygiene, and even teeth alignment problems.

During a laser frenectomy, an advanced dental laser is used to remove the excess soft tissue in a targeted and precise manner, with minimal bleeding, pain, or scarring. The laser works without cutting or stitching, resulting in less trauma and discomfort compared to traditional scalpel techniques. It is a safe procedure and suitable for patients of all ages.

The procedure is typically done under local anaesthetic and patients can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure, although some soreness, swelling and slight bleeding may occur for a few days. Oral analgesic medication and a soft diet is recommended during the recovery period, along with gentle exercises to promote healing and prevent reattachment of the frenum.

Laser Tongue Tie

Laser tongue tie is a minimally invasive procedure that utilises a specialised dental laser to treat conditions in which the tongue frenum (a small fold of tissue that connects the floor of the mouth to the underside of the tongue) is too short or thick, limiting the mobility of the tongue.

During the procedure, Dr Anthony Hua will use a dental laser to remove any excess tissue and release the frenum attachment, immediately allowing for more normal movement of the tongue. The laser effectively removes the soft tissue with minimal bleeding and swelling, reducing the risk of infection.

Laser tongue ties are generally performed under local anaesthetic. By releasing the frenum, the tongue can move more freely, improving a patient’s ability to speak and swallow and decreasing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Recovery time after this procedure is minimal, and most patients can resume normal activities immediately.
