How much does it cost to get a great smile?

Like most professional services, cost varies based on the amount of time required and the complexity of the procedure(s). Generally, improving a smile requires a combination of treatment options such as teeth whitening, recontouring the gums and using bonded materials such as porcelain veneers to improve the appearance of your teeth.

I don't like my teeth or my smile, what are my options?

A wide variety of options are available to improve tooth function and how your smile looks. Browse our Smile Gallery here to see real examples of what can be achieved.

Does teeth whitening work for everyone?

Do not believe strong advertising messages which suggest everyone’s teeth are suitable for whitening. Whitening may not provide significant results for everyone. Our cosmetic consultations will discuss whether this treatment, (amongst others) is suitable for your unique teeth and smile.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Most procedures will last for about two years if you don’t regularly drink soft drinks, sports drinks, tea and coffee or eat foods that repeatedly stain your teeth. Take-home whitening kits are perfect for touch-ups and to help maintain your white smile for life.

Does teeth whitening damage my enamel?
Professional teeth whitening with PolaOffice+, Poladay and Polanight have been proven to be both safe and reliable. The hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide will not harm your teeth, gums or soft tissues. Your gums and soft tissues are protected by a customised barrier gently placed around each tooth before the whitening process begins.
Are veneers my only option if I want a smile makeover?
No, not necessarily. Dr Hua will determine and discuss with you the procedures that are most suitable. Treatment suggestions will be based on your desires and a thorough examination to determine the condition of your teeth and what problems, if any, may require dental treatment. Therefore, your smile makeover could involve a combination of teeth whitening, crowns, veneers, composite bonding, gingival recontouring and onlay procedures determined at your assessment and treatment plan discussion.
What cosmetic procedures are available for people with missing teeth?
Although dentures are not considered a cosmetic procedure, they provide an aesthetic benefit for people who have lost all or some of their teeth. People who are missing only certain teeth, or rows of teeth, may be better served by a dental bridge or dental implants. It is best to have your situation evaluated by Dr Hua to establish suitability for any of these procedures.
If my teeth are reshaped for veneers or crowns, what will they look like?
Generally, bonded restorations such as porcelain crowns or veneers will require two visits: one to shape the teeth and one to bond the restorations to your teeth. Between visits, we can place provisional restorations to help prevent sensitivity, allow limited function, and provide a nice smile. These temporaries are designed to be in your mouth for a limited time but should be comfortable and natural looking until your new smile is completed.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers can last 10 or more years without chipping or breaking. If they are properly cared for they can last much longer. It is possible for veneers to have issues sooner if your teeth are not properly maintained. Professional check-up and cleans every 6 months are highly recommended.
Why do I need to have x-rays?
As dentists, when performing a dental check-up, there are limitations to what we can see in your mouth – we can only see the part of the tooth that sits above the gumline. Even areas between your teeth are not necessarily in clear view. So just like other x-rays ordered by medical doctors to check for things like broken bones, we use dental x-rays to help see the parts of your teeth that sit below the gums and the surrounding bone.
Is every root canal treatment successful?
Your tooth will only be treated if there is a good chance it can be restored and will last a long time. However, people have varied healing responses and some infections may respond differently, so no guarantees can be given. Studies have shown over 90% of endodontic treatments are successful and uneventful. We will inform you if your case is considered less favourable. Healing of the jawbone around the tooth can be slow and it’s important to have your tooth reviewed regularly to assess treatment success.
Who is a candidate for dental implants?
Generally, anyone can be considered as a candidate for dental implants providing they are reasonably healthy and need a solution for tooth loss.
How long will my dental implant last?
If patients maintain good oral hygiene and have regular 6-monthly check-ups and cleans, their dental implants will often last more than 10 years.
How much will a dental implant cost?
Dental implant costs vary greatly depending on several factors including the number of dental implants required, the amount of bone available for implant placement and the patient’s individual circumstances.
Can I convert my dentures into an implant overdenture?
Depending on the state of your current full dentures, this may be a viable treatment option.
